Shutting down before leaving the classroom: Never try to shut down the system with the Master Switch inside the podium, and do not turn off the amplifier. Shut down the computer from the Start Menu, and shut down the projector with the OFF button on the keypad.
Who should I call about problems with technology in the classroom?
- Call the IT Help Desk directly at x3200, and they will arrange to assist you immediately or as soon as the classroom is open
- Call the CIT at x2339 and we will either contact the Help Desk for immediate assistance or create a work order.
- If you need a key to the podiums, we have them in the CIT.
What can I do to keep the podiums and other technology in working order?
- Here is a photo of an at-risk podium (right), open to theft and/or vandalism. Podiums should be locked and all equipment shut down at the end of every class.
- Don't count on the room being occupied after yours, even if it has been in the past.
- Likewise, the next instructor may not be using the podium and will not think to lock it for you.
- Keep chalk off the podium. Chalk dust is insidious, creeping into every piece of equipment available--just look at your hands and clothing after class! Notice two boxes of chalk on the podium in the photo.
